SharePoint dashboards turn heads with new Content Tiles

Get ready to see your custom SharePoint dashboard reach a new level of beauty and simplicity. Due to overwhelming demand, LiveTiles has pulled forward its release of a new Content Tile. This tile provides an improved content authoring experience, giving our users a different mosaic from which to build SharePoint dashboards.

If you’re used to writing in the Text Tile, you’ll want to try out the Content Tile right away. The first thing you’ll notice is that you can type text directly into the tile. What about those SharePoint keyword searches? They’ll pull them right up. The Content Tile is indexed within SharePoint. LiveTiles Product Designer Todd Schutz points out that for responsive pages “A minimal, contextual, inline toolbar simplifies authoring while also providing for inline insertion of images and videos.”

I’m loading a picture I have saved in SharePoint. I can also upload a new file into SharePoint if I need a new image for the Content Tile.

I switch into Quick View to see it as my user would. If I want to make a change, I just click back over to Resume Designing.

Our responsive design canvas allows a SharePoint designer to build a responsive site just as easily as it would be for a regular SharePoint dashboard. Collaboration and teamwork are going mobile, and a responsive design makes it easy to boost employee engagement in the digital workspace. Todd adds, “The really cool thing is that you get this along with all the usual tile capabilities our users love.” The Content Tile is a culmination of many weeks of hard work from experts in each of LiveTiles’ global offices. You won’t find anything like it outside of the LiveTiles SharePoint designer. We see it as fulfilling our commitment to LiveTiles customers and partners: continuing innovation in intranet technology and acting on user feedback.

In tandem with the release of the Content Tile, there are a few other SharePoint dashboard essentials coming your way. A new Content Page template type is being unveiled. It’s a completely new page type that provides new options to add to our current responsive and fixed width pages. It maximizes the value of the Content Tile and is designed to accommodate future tile improvements. The Content Page is not going to be very different from the blank responsive page, except that the page will start off with a pre-configured Content Tile, so you can immediately start typing. UI has never been more intuitive, just drag and drop a tile and start typing. Excellence in UX design is at the foundation of all that we do, so you won’t have to worry about falling behind the latest digital trends as you transfer information to the Content Page.

Teams that have been planning to make new rich content pages are going to have an extended array of improvements to work with. For more specific details on anything you’ve read about, see our knowledge base and as always, feel free to reach out to our customer service experts.
