Our most recent Leader product release notes features the News List tile. The News List tile allows for the simple creation of a list page. The tile makes scrolling through multiple articles easy for the user. Joel Rieck, LiveTiles Software QA Analyst, provided the details on our latest product improvement.
The News List tile is in the Feeds tile category, and offers the news in the form of a scrollable feed interface:
This News List tile, Card Slider tile, and News tile all have the capability to open the list and modify it through the LiveTiles view. To set this view, click on the links tab in the tile settings and click on the “LiveTiles” button in the List URL Type.
The List Page Colors can be customized to give a unique look to the list pages. Once selected, click “Okay” to save. When saving the page and viewing the page, the tiles will lead to the LiveTiles view of the list:
You no longer need to go back to a SharePoint user interface (UI). Once a link is clicked, it will lead to the article in the LiveTiles view:
Clicking on the root “SampleNews,” which is the name of the list in our example here, will navigate to the Root.
Once in this view, users can search announcements by keywords using the magnifying glass in the upper left, or create new announcements with the + New in the upper right. Announcements can be edited, deleted, shared or expanded by using the bottom of the announcement and clicking the desired option.
Clicking “Share” will give you the option to copy and paste the direct link, or click on one of the two buttons to share through Yammer or an email.
By clicking Edit, options to edit the title include: the body text, adding attachments, editing attachments, selecting the preview image, marking the announcement as a critical and/or pinned announcement, and saving or discarding changes.
The ability to mark “Pinned” or “Critical” is added through the list itself in SharePoint. From the SharePoint view of the list, edit the list and click the + to create a new column, and choose “More Column Types…” Then, name the column “Critical” and click the radio button for Yes/No (check box), then click “Ok.” Repeat this column creation process for a column named “Pinned.”
Using these steps, you can create your own News List page in minutes.
