With a team of over 24,000 people in more than 20 countries, Entain is one of the world’s largest sports betting, gaming, and interactive entertainment groups. The company had an existing intranet, but it was poor value and didn’t have the capability to integrate with Microsoft Teams. The team at Entain wanted to completely rethink internal communications with a digital-first strategy. The UX goal was to create an internal sharing platformthat was as integrated, compelling, on-brand and exciting as Entain’s external-facing products. Called Entain.Me, this new digital workplace was to be available anytime and anywhere and had to foster a ‘one Entain’ culture. To celebrate the introduction of Entain.me the team created an internal video to capture the buzz, value and ease of use.
In the words of Si Steers who leads on Digital channels as part of the Internal Comms team, the solution had to “be Omnipresent”. The team engaged Content Formula, a digital workplace consultancy that creates communications platforms for a diverse workforce. Content Formula – one of LiveTiles’ premium partners – began a detailed discovery process to understand what employees really needed to be successful, and what the company could create that would achieve its communications objectives. In the middle of the pandemic, with its own employees and many of Entain’s working remotely, the consultancy formed focus groups, held one-to-one interviews and incorporated an extensive employee survey to inform its design and implementation.
One of the learnings from the discovery phase was that an informal communications channel was very important, especially for retail colleagues outside office environments. The team therefore featured Yammer within its final solution, and it is now being included to create town-hall type virtual events and even the company’s results are now broadcast using Yammer Live.
Ultimately, the Entain team with Content Formula delivered a modern, engaging “use-anywhere” solution that mirrors the excitement and engagement of Entain’s externally focused brands.
The resulting Entain.me employee experience platform is built around the idea of microservices. The LiveTiles deployment allows for the integration not only of Microsoft 365, Yammer and Teams, each essential to the company’s operations, but also of features like a connection to ServiceNow tickets for helpdesk and HR features such as holiday requests.
The LiveTiles Power Panel capability ensures that employees can access alerts, relevant links and manage channel subscriptions from any page. Each part of the company – geographical as well as functional – has its own channels, and people use the Power Panel to personalize their feed, not only from these corporate channels but also for interest groups such as diversity, sports and well-being.
