In today’s digital age we are often bombarded with large amounts of information at any given time. Searching through this abundance of knowledge can often be time consuming in your personal life, and even more detrimental in a business environment. Companies are coming up with strategies to cut down on information overload and are instead focusing on a better user experience.

“As an Information Architect by trade and leading a business that specializes in information overload, we often think about email, meetings for meetings sake and the endless supply of non-relevant information types. This can play a large part in reduction of business productivity and inefficiencies, as one third of a person’s day is spent trying to find answers to information.”

When rhipe Solutions carries out an engagement, the primary outcome is that of User Experience and adoption of the solution. A large component of User Experience is a compelling User Interface (UI). “We marry functionality that drives adoption with expertly designed Information Architecture (IA). Therefore, IA + UI = UX,” Robinson, General Manager at rhipe Solutions.

This formula, combining a strong Information Architecture and a compelling User Interface, allows for the best outcome for the user’s experience.  To Robinson, the key components to creating a compelling UI is an interface that is not only flexible and adopts the corporate brand, but is simple to update with less development time, mobile friendly and specifically targeted to the end-user(s).

“Having the choice to consume ‘what I want to consume’, by opting in or out of various information loads, is a very important factor when reducing information overload.”

As we are constantly being fed information, it is important to cut through the clutter and present important information in a simple way. Doing so will not only help with productivity, but also engage end users. Companies like rhipe Solutions are quickly changing the way end users take in information and ultimately are transforming the user experience for many consumers.

We would like to thank Damien Robinson for his contribution to this article.
