The Challenge

Tuck had an incumbent intranet that had been built in-house and integrated with several other campus systems.

The Solution

Tuck chose to peel back a number of elements on the existing intranet and move to a best-of-breed cloud solution.

The Result

The highly visual solution has been positively received by Tuck’s broad user base.

The Challenge

The old system was heavily used by necessity, with certain critical services only available via this intranet. Site UX was outdated, and the lack of mobile support was giving rise to an increasing number of issues. A decision had to be made to either shift strategy or reinvest.

The Solution

Tuck chose to peel back a number of elements on the existing intranet and move to a best-of-breed cloud solution. This gave their project team the opportunity to re-envision the entire experience, and to bring in the full Office 365 productivity set, as well as introducing an enterprise social network.

LiveTiles Partner, rhipe Solutions, was engaged by Tuck to create a pilot for a future 360° dashboard of activity from a variety of systems used on campus. The solution had to enable customization so individual users could shape their own view.

LiveTiles was attractive to Tuck’s leadership group due to its visual style, which they saw as being similar to metro UX. Given their need to surface content from a variety of external services, LiveTiles gave Tuck the opportunity to roll out their solution at a lower cost over time.

Project goals for improved collaboration among student project teams and school staff using Office 365 are being realized.

The Result

The new portal offers improved navigation with a comprehensive mega-menu and space for internal branding and marketing information. Data imported from campus systems for a custom SharePoint search center can be surfaced on the portal page for quick viewing. Recent changes in SharePoint team sites can also be made available on LiveTiles pages.

The highly visual solution has been positively received by Tuck’s broad user base. Having the ability to edit section pages ‘on the fly’ has delivered productivity gains to Tuck’s internal IT team, as it enables them to respond to user needs quickly and without seeking external assistance.

Tuck reports that they are beginning to see a range of benefits from the Office 365 tool set that is readily available to users via the LiveTiles site. Project goals for improved collaboration among student project teams and school staff using Office 365 are being realized.
